  • What is the Commemoration of The MAAFA?
    MAAFA (Mah-Ah-Fah) is a Kiswahili term for "disaster, terrible occurrence or great tragedy.” For 30 years, St. Paul Community Baptist Church has presented the Commemoration of The MAAFA, an annual experience remembering the suffering endured by Africans who were enslaved and brought to America through the Middle Passage. The MAAFA is a powerful and reflective event that aims to explore the history, identity, and experiences of African Americans.

    YES, tickets are required to attend the dramatic presentations during The 31st Commemoration of The MAAFA. Tickets will go on sale Summer 2025, please continue to check our website for updates.
  • Why do I need to register for the Mbongi sessions that will take place during the 30th Commemoration of the MAAFA?
