Evelyn Plaines

Evelyn Plaines has been a member of St. Paul Community Baptist Church since 1999. Over the years, she has served in several ministries and leadership roles, including Council of Wise Jewels, Prayer Intercessor, Hospitality, Crossover Team, Peridot Advisor, Maafa Crew, and most recently, Menders Becoming. Evelyn retired from the New York State Office of Medicaid Inspector General in 2010.

She is a world traveler, having visited five continents and numerous countries and cities in the United States. Evelyn enjoys listening to and reading books and is a founding member of the Literary Popular Club, a book club that celebrated its 31st anniversary in 2024. She is also a Broadway play enthusiast.

Evelyn became a widow in 1996. She and her late husband, Everett Plaines, have four children—Maurice, Kyle, Chad, and Kara—four grandchildren, and two adorable great-grandbabies. Evelyn looks forward to continuing her service to SPCBC in a new leadership position. She has always felt divinely guided and believes that "the humble will be exalted" (Matthew 23:12).

Her favorite scripture is Galatians 5:22-23.
