Jewel Ministry

Mission Statement

The SPCBC Department of Women’s (Jewel) Ministry seeks to educate and empower women of all ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds with programs that focus on learning how to manage daily life through study and application of the Word of God.

 

History of Women’s (Jewel) Ministry

1984 – St. Paul Department of Women’s Ministry begins under the leadership of Sarah Lee Boone Plowden

1990-1999 Yvonne Bonitto Zeigler becomes the Director of Women’s Ministry.

1999 - St. Paul Senior Pastor (1974-2009) Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood assumes direct leadership of the Department of Women’s Ministry becoming Director and Hakikah Shamsiden is appointed Coordinator, overseeing the day to day operations of the department.

2000 - Rev. Youngblood renames all women who are members of the church ‘The Jewels of St. Paul’ (Malachi 3:17), assigning each age group the name of a particular jewel.

The women of St. Paul are grouped into unique collectives represented by precious gemstones:

  • Pearls 2-17
    • Freshwater 2-5
    • Pink 6-8
    • Tahitian 9-11
    • Luminescent 12-14
    • Cultured 15-17
  • Emeralds 18-29
  • Amethysts 30-39
  • Diamonds 40-49
  • Sapphires 50-59
  • Rubies 60-69
  • Peridot 70+

2001 – Daughters of Zelophehad are renamed Council of Wise Jewels.  

 

Jewel programming and events operate year round.


Monthly Summit and Collective Meetings
are held in which sisters of each collective meet to pray with one another, study Bible as it pertains to their particular age group and fellowship.  (1st Saturday monthly, except where noted on the calendar.)

Jewel Phenomenon
a growth group of women who participate in an in-depth study of ‘The Willie Lynch Letter’

Jewel Concierge a hospitality team of women who serve throughout the ministry.

Jewel Quilters beginner and master quilters who capture the ministry and Bible stories on cloth.
